I glimpse a final panorama of Puerto Escondido as the plane rises, and a tear is shed as the ocean becomes like a bowl of blue cake batter. However, any melancholy present was short lived, instantaneously evaporated on contact with a triage of superlative city-bathings; a month through Mexico City, New York and London. Roaming neon, brick, road and park, many an inconceivably sumptuous coffee was tongue-witnessed, many a momentously majestic painting was eye-danced, several a delightful soul was heart-felt, holy-moly skylines many a time did mind-blow, and several a glass of sparkling life water on-tap were filled.
With a crescent moon and night backdrop, in the cold air atop the Empire State Building, all culminated in awe-joy-tears shed and refracted in a million metropolis jewel-lights, three hundred and eighty metres above the many sirens, bagels, cafes and the indomitable spirit of human life.
Here though, with one fortieth the population, I find myself drinking a κυπριακό καφέ as a water fountain dilly-dally babbles across from my table, the mediterranean sun beats down to the rhythm of a hottening drum, an azan echoes from across the divide, and once again I question what is this charm that wooes me back to the island of cats?
